help to diagnose for my 740's Antenna 700 1991

the power antenna stopped work suddenly in a trip to wal-mart.

It just fully extented out, but can not be retracted even one inch.

I opened my trunk and disconnect the antenna cable and power connector, and

remove the antenna find there is a plastic thread inside the antenna.

I can easily pull them out from the antenna well.

shall the plastic thread be pulled out?

when power on the car and switch on the antenna I can not hear the

motor running.

will you help me to diagnose for my 740's antenna?
