power steering fluid leak 200 1990

I had noticed that the power steering reservoir needed topping off twice in the last 4 months. I had a mechanic today tell m that I need to replace the rack at a cost of $450.00. First, is this a reasonable price, and secondly, is there any repairing possible, rather than replacing the whole rack?thanks
