My wagon has an electronic drivers side door lock such that I can lock all doors from the drivers side with either the plunger or the key. Imagine my excitement when two weeks ago I noticed that I could lock the door simply by moving the opening lever on the outside of the door. Exactly the same motion that would normally open the door. My excitement at this new "option" turned to dismay when I had left the motor running -it was cold here in upstate New York - but now when I went to open the door instead of opening, it locked:( 2hours later after asking a friend to drive over with an extra key, I was able to get into the car.
I have since noticed that the detent which would normally hold the plunger up is broken and suspect that this is the cause because gravity will tent to move the plunger towards the lock position.
I have taken the door panel off. The electronic lock mechanism is inside between the two panals on the rear side of the door beneath the plunger and would appear to be totally inaccessable. For the life of me, I can't figure out how to get the electronic lock mechanism out of the door. Has anyone had an experience like this and can someone suggest how to remove that electronic lock mechanism.
Thanks, Bill
