Fuel pump running 200 87

About 3 minutes after turning off the car the main fuel pump will start running by itself and not shut off unless I start the car and then turn it off again at which time the pump will start running again after about 3 min. or so. The car runs fine otherwise. I just disconnect the battery to shut it off but can't find any info on these symtoms. Thanks for any advice or info...Oh Yeah, it rained cats and dogs today...
