240 Stallw when hot 200 1986

My kid's 86 244 suddenly started stalling on him after he has driven it enough to get it very well warmed up. It will stall and not want to restart when you idle the engine, like stopping at a traffic light. After it cools off, all is well again.

This started to occur suddenly after he had filled up with gas the other day. I would suspect bad gas, but I also filled up the Wifemobile (2001 Sienna) with the same grade gas at the same station that same day with no ill effects. I took the car on a 15 min test drive but could not repeat the problem.

My neighbor, the mechanic, suspects maybe the coil or a bad pickup in the distributor. A "motor head" co-worker suspects a sticky, dirty, throttle body. I'm wondering if it could be a weak battery, which the car is starting to develop.

I won't be able to do anything till Friday. I'm leaning toward trying to drive the car long enough to reproduce th failure mode, and trying another battery. If that doesn't work, I'll try cleaning the throttle body. Then on to plug wires, cap-n- rotor, coil and maybe the distributor pickup (if that can be gotten seperately)

That's my plan, so far. How about some input on if that is the right way to go, or if it might be some mechanical gremlin not yet mentioned.
