Strut 200 1984

Posted a message a while ago concerning my strut cartridge moving inside the tube after replacement. It was suggested that I install spacers. Since then I have torn the assembly apart about five times. The spacers were already in the tube but I can't get the passenger side to stop "clanking" around when I drive over small bumps. I have tightened the tube nut so it can't be tightened anymore, there is about 3/16" between the tube and top of nut. Is it possible that the strut cartridge is bad? The driver side is fine and I had no problems when I did my 740 struts, just don't know what the deal is with this one strut. Any inputs would be appreciated. Thanks

Doug
