Throttle Adjustment vs shift points 700 1989

I was getting about 19.5 MPG and smooth shifting on my 89 760T until I had dealer do 85,000 work that included a "throttle adjustment". The thrittle linkage separated on me on the road 3 days after the work done. Dealer again adjusted throttle and now get 18.5MPG and difficulty shifting out of 3rd gear if I am between 30 &40, keeps going back and forth 3rd to 4th. Any one with an idea?
