strut replacement 200

Hi -

Right after I had kyb struts installed in my 1984 245 diesel the engine died in (my driveway of all places !!!!) and refused to start ever again. I have since purchased a "new" 1981 GLT wagon that needs new struts.

My questions is, can I just swap out the spring/strut assembly from the diesel and switch it to my GLT? I know the GLT has a heavier sway bar than the 240's but do they have the same type spings as the 240'S? Would the ride be much harsher with the diesel springs installed? I have a feeling that the ride would be a lot harsher and I should swap the springs- for this is my daily driver for now. To make matters worse I live in NJ.

Also, since I have very similar vehicles (same blue interiors - how nice) how much can I strip before no junk yard wants it? Or is this a philosophical/physic question that depends on how much my wife will tolerate and how much storage space I have?

(I have already stripped the struts/shocks- soon the dash/elctrical door relays) I alreaddy know most of the engine parts won't fit ...)
