Is this the one where some diesel "Expert" shat down my throat because I dared to counter his advice?
I thought so.
Anyway. You can use the diesel springs, but you won't be happy with the ride. They're much stiffer to accomodate the heavier engine.
Keep in mind that scrap prices are way down. If your car doesn't have something that a yard can turn right away, then you might very well end up paying THEM to take it out. If they're junking the thing, they have to pull the gas tank and battery out of the car, and go from there. That's all work, and they need to make that up. Usually they make it up on parts, but your diesel won't have a whole lot of parts left on it afterwards. The engine parts are virtually useless to them, especially if it's a non-runner. The body parts are the same, because Volvo doors are easy to come by, and the front end parts are almost useless anymore on the aftermarket.
If you have a yard that specializes in Volvo, you might be able to get sometihng for it. But expect to pay a few bucks to discard of the car, and if you get something more than that, be pleasantly surprised.
