Brickers:
So, I had my oil changed a few weeks back and had it switched to Mobil 1 10w-30. I chose the mobil 1 becaue I had heard it would hold up well at the high running temp of my 745t, and wanted to give my old girl all the care I can.
Seems to be holding up nicely, but my consumption still seems a little high, and I'm wondering if ya'll can tell me what normal might be. Right now I'm burning about 3/4 of a quart over 500 miles, with 80%-85% of those miles being highway miles traveled at a speed of 70-75mph.
Is this normal consumption or is it excessive for a turbo? If excessive, what might be causing my brick to burn oil at a higher rate? Might the engine's age (205k) be a factor in the consumption rate? The speed at which I drive?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Rick
