removed header pipe, now won't seal 200 1987

I removed/replaced the header pipe on my 240 and I can't get it to seal. A new gasket didn't make any difference. FWIW, if the front of the car is 12 o'clock it leaks from about 5 to 10 o'clock.

Is there a trick to putting the pipe on so it seals? Did I bend something? How could I figure that out?
