I have read several versions of possible reasons for what may be happening to my 87 740Turbo. With the following symptoms, can anyone help?
The Volvo has no problem starting first thing in the morning, even on a Canadian -30 degree day, however after travelling a distance (usually about 50 km, the engine quits, the rev counter seems to still measure RPMs but obviously slowly drops towards zero. Before it gets to zero the engine will often start up again as though everything was O.K.
After a long drive if I pull in for gas, as an example, then try to re-start the car...no go. If I then wait about 10 minutes, it starts and off I go again.
Any ideas?
