Lately I have had alot of problems coming from the front suspension and/or brakes. It started gradually and has gone too far to ignore anymore. The symptoms have been(chronologically):
1. Clunks from the front suspension at low speeds-noticeable leaving my
driveway.
2. Around sweeping right hand turns the steering will skip or jump. Seems as
though there is a notch in the steering wheel. There is a little
resistance before you hit this notch and then it will jump so you have to
keep on correcting the steering around the bend.
3. A few months after the first symptoms the car would pull to the left upon
braking. Visually the pads and rotors look pretty good. About one year
ago I had the rotors, pads, and calipers replaced.
4. Just recently I noticed the steering wheel is off center a little to the
right. If I let go of it, the car will not wander.
5. Even more recently, with slight pressure on the brakes the steering wheel
will wobble back and forth violently, more so than if it was warped rotors.
The entire front end vibrates and thumps and is pretty scary. If I step on
the brakes pretty hard this will go away.
When I first noticed the jump in the steeing I had my mechanic take a look and he said everything is tight up front. I was also looking around through the archives and FAQ's and I'm thinking it is bushings? It seems more suspension rather than brakes but I don't know. I just got a check from State Farm for the deer I hit(already got all the parts I need from the junkyard for $20) so I am going to see a different garage to get this all fixed up. I was just hoping you guys could give me some insight on these problems. Thanks for the help.
