Greetings
A couple of weeks ago I sought your advice about a bearing type noise problem with my 245. It is a groaning / whining problem that is related to wheel speed (not engine speeed). It seems (I'm not positive about this) to be coming from the from the front of the car and changes its pitch in relation to moving the steering wheel from side to side. The noise is evident at about 60 kph (35 mph)It seems louder when the wheel is turned to the left, which led me to believe that the right front wheel bearing was toast. I replaced this on the weekend (although it looked ok) - no change to the noise. I took apart the left wheel bearing which also seemed fine, cleaned it repacked it and put it back - no change in the noise. Last time I sought your advice it was suggested that I should consider the bearing in the middle of the tail shaft. My questions are:
Is there any way of telling if the tailshaft bearing is toast without pulling it apart?
Am I missing someting else?
Thanks, as always
Roger
