I recently completed a turbo overhaul consisting of new seals, bearings, and a good cleaning. Everything went pretty smooth, (thanks in part to many brickboard contributers), then i put it back on the car. I noticed that oil was still passing through the turbo and into the impeller housing, so I switched the oil from 5W-30 (which I was using for the winter, until I was told that it was too thin for a Turbo) back to 10W-40. Seemed to help my problem at first but I'm still loosing oil through the front and possibly the backside of the unit as well. I also noticed that while driving, the car will blow a decent amount of smoke just about every 7 or 8 minuets, then clear up until the next blast.
Any help on this would be great, as I am runnig low on ideas and just wish that I could get my brick to run at her full potential. Ohh yeah, the air cleaner is pretty new. Also when I lift the hood to check things out, the exhaust manifold area is extremely hot, so much so that the radiant heat all but melts my skin off, is this normal?
thanks everyone!!!
