Wiring an ammeter 200 1985

I have been given an ammeter by my Dad which I want to fit to my 1985 240 wagon.I have figured how to tap in to the dashboard wiring for the illumination but I am not sure how to wire in the meter itself.There are 2 terminals on the back.I presume one is for +ve and one is -ve bit neither is labelled.In any case I am admittedly ignorant as to whereabouts on the car these terminals must be wired to.I would be grateful for any help with this as it is a loveley old guage and would suit the retro look of my car really well.
