Water pump catastrophe !!!!!!!! 700

I was installing a water pump this morning and everything was going excellent. I had smoothly removed all the belts, then removed the water pump, swiftly cleaned all the old gasket material, installed the new seals and pump. While tightening the last bolt on the water pump I decided to give it an extra ¼ turn when the stud broke and the fell into the bottom of the timing belt cover, bummer! After a lot of swearing, I managed to get the broken stud removed. Now for my question: can I use a bolt instead of a dreadful stud and nut? I other words do I really need to wait until monday to go to the horrible dealer to pay 500 times more than reasonable for a stud, or can I use one of the extra bolts that came with the pump? It would be very close to the right length worst case I would have to dremel a little length off of the bolt to get a good tight fit.

Now I am on the way to Walmart to buy one of those extending magnet things to extract the stud form the timing cover, figures - last bolt, I went through great care not the drop the nut into the timing cover too.
