For those not familiar with what I've done to this point, here's the rundown.

I figured out that my system needed to be charged so I bought an Interdynamics recharge kit at Wal-Mart and recharged the system. As the system charged, the compressor began to kick on and run for a second or two and then kick off for several seconds. Eventually, the compressor began running longer and staying off for shorter periods of time. Once the can of refrigerant was gone, I disconnected it from the system. I then checked the low side pressure again. The pressure varies from 40 psi or so when the compressor first starts running to 25 psi. When it reaches 25, the compressor cuts off and the pressure starts to rise again.
My concern now is that the compressor seems to be cycling on and off quite a bit. It doesn't run for long at all and then it shuts down. I should mention that the A/C is blowing ice cold. Also, the ambient temp. is probably high 50s to low 60s. Is it normal for the compressor to cycle on and off like this? The one on my wife's old Mitsubishi cycles on and off but it runs for a longer period of time than this one is.
Thanks
Don Tibbetts
