91' 740 Voltage regulator/Sending unit Location? 700

I am about to order a new sending unit(voltage regulator)for the distributor(ignition system sending unit), For My '91 740. The guys I'm order from said the sending unit was on top of the trany. Does anyone know exactly? Is it under the center consol? Near the gear selector. Or is it in the outside of the car. I know that in my 760 turbo it is actually located inside the distributor. Any ideas? Thank you
