I've been looking over the brickboard for a few days (evenings) and must say that I'm impressed - I wish I'd known about it when I had my PV544.
I've got a problem with a 740Turbo (1989)(approx 158,000 mi). It won't start (doesn't even attempt to "fire"). Background: after changing the oil/oil filter, I ran it for a few minutes to check for leaks (engine was warmed up before oil was changed). After looking for leaks, decided to go ahead and replace alt/ac/fan belts. Replaced belts, ran for short period to check for smooth operation. Turned off car (outside, not garaged). Next day started car for 2-3 minutes to double check no leaks/belts smooth oper. Stopped car. Next day started car to go to work - started fine, stalled when placed in gear (DRIVE - automatic). (Not really anything unusual for it to stall once. Usually, immed. will restart and go on.) Hasn't even hinted at starting since.
Things I observe:
Replaced fuel pump relay
Fuel pumps appear to be functioning properly - measure amps through fuse 1 w/ and w/o fuse 11 in place (approx. 8-9 amps w/ and 6-7 amps w/o fuse 11).
Tach "bounces" slightly when cranking
Spark to plugs (at least to the two I pulled and held against engine while cranking)
Pulled plugs had fuel on them
Timing appears to be ok (based on timing light while cranking)
Tried disconnecting AMM - still didn't start
Charged battery - still didn't start
Been sitting since Monday, did not start on Thurs.
Removed hose connected to TB - sprayed starting fluid - didn't fire.
I believe I can hear injectors clicking
Any suggestions/help would be appreciated, before I give up and have it towed to a shop.
