I've got the Radio Blues. 200 1990

I'm a new proud owner of a 1990 240 DL with a bum radio. It turns on..but only shows a right arrow on the display. Tape does not work either. (Doesn't play, rewind or fast forward) Other options display as you press the buttons, but no tuner and no sound besides a snap, crackle or a pop in the rear right speaker. The antenna mast or broke too. It was a manual antenna but I'm assuming it's not associated with not getting any sound.

I have read the previous posts over the past few weeks and understand that the radio is not the most reliable luxury. Almost all have replaced it. However, I hope to salvage the stock radio and speakers to avoid the cost of a new replacements. (At least I'd like to go down swinging.) Any advice? I plan on buying a meter and checking the voltage, etc. if I can figure how a meter works and see if therre are loose wires. Already replaced the fuse in slot #1 with no luck. Any suggestions out there to fix this thing?
