Lowering springs....is it a must to replace struts/shocks... 200

I am in the process of purchasing some lower springs for my 81 240 wagon. They will only be dropping the car 35mm, and they are progressive.
My question is do I have to replace the front struts...(the rears are being replaces with Bilstiens).
My front struts are in great shape, and I would like to get some more life outta them if possible.

Also, are there any little surprises I could expect while doing the springs, above and beyond the bushings etc...I guess what I am worried about is if there is some small thing everyone runs into when doing this procedure that I could be prepared for...

Cheers all
