1989 740 230f engine. The car has a myriad of problems, but the main problem is that it drives as though it is not getting enough fuel. It feels as though it is running on two cylinders. It idles normally.
Tests I've done:
I pulled the fuel injectors to make sure that that are spraying properly. I have a SunPro tester. I also tested the harnesses to check that they are ok. This test was done during idle.
Spark: At idle I'm getting spark on all cylinders.
I've checked and cleaned several ground connection. Still have to check others.
This year does not have a Hall sensor in the distributor or any wires that could be loose.
Could it be the RPM sensor?
Other problems:
The car does not want to start easily for the first time of the day during cold temperatures. It takes about ten key clicks to get enough gas into it. When it is warm, it starts fine. Could be the ECT sensor. The fuel pressure is fine.
The electric cooling fan never engages when the engine is hot. I cleaned all the connections to it and ensured that the wires have no breaks with a tester. I applied 12 volts to the fan, and it works ok.
I'm going to clean the connectors on the comb connections going to the ECU.
Any Advice?
