Hi all,
It's been a while!
On my wife's (ha) 1985 245 turbo, I purchased a "compressor bypass kit" from IPD, due to the fact that her car had no condenser, and the A/C hadn't worked in I don't know how long. No measureable freon in lines, either.
Well, normally I have had nothing but good things to say about IPD and have been buying from them for 4 yrs. or so, but I spent $40 bucks on what turns out to be just a spacer, a new belt, and 4 new bolts. The worst thing is that I can "bypass" the compressor, but can't "remove" it due to the fact that the power steering pump mounts to the top of the compressor! Geez!......
My whole master plan was to remove that 30lb. or so "dead weight" in the first place. Well, I installed the kit great but still have the compressor in.
Anyhoo... anyone out there have any ideas on how I can mount the power steering pump "cleanly" without the compressor? I can get it out no prob, but don't know if some of the other 1985 240's without A/C(?) had an alternate method.
Please help/advise.
Ted.
