Got a call around noon yesterday at work from my wife. For the second time since October, the clutch cable went to the floor. So...I drove the '87 home, changed my clothes, grabbed a jack stand and sheets of cardboard and the original clutch cable which I keep as a spare and went out to rescue her.
Same problem as in October. The white plastic rim on the clutch cable sheath which abuts the bellhousing cylinder sheared off. As a consequence, the cable sheath pulled through the bellhousing cylinder, and there was no clutch action.
What's up with these aftermarket parts? This is the second aftermarket clutch cable (Beck Arnly?) whose sheath rim sheared off. When we got back home I placed an order with TVK to get a stock cable. Maybe I should order several more to keep as spares?
Anyone else experiencing this problem?
Grrr...
