could it be my air mass meter? 200 1982

My 82 245 has started to idle very rough and cut off while idling. He runs and idles very strong in cooler weather, but seems to do more poorly in warm weather. I was told by two different friends that maybe my air mass meter was on the outs. Any thoughts? thanks in advance
