how many gallons to my tank?????? 700 1987

my fuel gauge is messed up beyond belief.. it jumps around from a half a tank to less than a 1/4 of a tank when i accelerate and deaccel.. i just cant get a straight reading out of the damn thing. i dont have a manual for my car and i would like to know what the capacity of my tank is so i can guesstimate on how full my tank is.. any inquiries or solutions to my gauge or tank would be greatly appreciated.....
