Heater Issues 140-160 1973

First time on this forum, very informative! 6 months ago I purchased a rust free 73' 145. I'm really loving this car. Got a few problems though. Aside from some fuel injection issues that I'm working on w/ the help of some earlier posts on the subject, I'm having some problems w/ the heater. The problem is that it blows warm air very speratically. First thing in the morning it takes a long time to blow warm even though the temp gauge reads normal operating temp early on. It also seems to only blow warm when the car is on level ground or traveling downhill. When traveling uphill it never blows warm. Wierd huh? Got any ideas?
