Coolant leak 200 1981

I have a l981 DL wagon that has been a great car. However it recently started leaking coolant from somewhere between the engine and the firewall. Does not seem to be the freeze plug or head gasket. Can not actually see the leak but after driving, water accumulates on top of the transmission and then to the ground. Any suggestions? Thanks Tim
