I just bought a 82 242 Turbo real cheap. I replaced the head gasket and changed the oil at the same time. While I was changing the filter I broke some electrical wire from the oil filter area. A 5 inch piece of wire fell from the car. I didn't know where it came from so I tried to start the car. The oil pressure warning lamp was on and the oil pressure gauge read zero. I figured the wire was from the oil pressure sender. After idleing for a few minutes making sure the timing was correct and no leaks I started to hear some noise like dry bearings. I shut off the car and checked the oil level, still full. I opened the oil filler cap and ran my finger ont he cam lobes and they were bone dry, even though when I filled the oil, it was with the valve cover off pouring the oil on the camshaft and valvetrain.

I am sure I put the headgasket on the correct way, I didn't do anything to the bottem end and used a Purolator Pure One filter. What could be causing the lack of oil circulation? Normally I would suspect an oil pump, but pressure was fine before I replaced the head gasket and I was wondering if I could have done something wrong to cause this. It was my first head gasket. Compression is all even now at ~145psi. Please all input is needed as I am not a pro but just learn from making mistakes. Basically I would like your guys opinion on weather I should replace the oil pump or if I should look at something else first. Thanks in advance.
