My b230ft engine in my '86 is sounding to be sicker and generally not sounding all that gutsy the more I own it. Piston slap becoming more obvious and noisy.
It still has good performance and go power, also factoring in it having more than 330k kms on it!
I know that through the b-board piston slap is common in these engines and could be passed off as a normal sounding engine. However, how long should I live with this unhealthy noise? In any other four-banger u-nameit this would be setting off alarm bells to any mechanic worth his salt.
To sum it all up I offer a question/solution; If I rebuild the block of a B230F(non turbo--I have a parts car engine), will it:
a) fit compatible wise
b) be suitable for a turbo setup ie:compression ratios and piston size etc.
c) buy my more time or am I just wasting my time?
Any responses no matter how foolish or technical will be greatly appreciated.
