I'm sure you've noticed it disapears as the car heats up, apparently because the aluminum pistons expand to fill the bore as the engin eheats up and reduces the slap.
As far as I understand it from reading the 700/900 FAQ (you should sit down for a few hours and take a gander) the only solution to the problem is to use longer pistons/piston skirts (?). Supposedly volvo replaced the older, shorter ones with new longer ones that basically elminated this problem. Of course, it is just as possible the elimination mentioned was a result of the new pistons and not the fact that they were longer, but I tend to think he knew what he was doing.
Of course, you'd have to buy the new pistons and wouldn't be able to use your parts car for the job... not cheap, but I believe you can get a set of pistons online for about $230 (vs. $800 something retail). The qustion is whether you can get the updated pistons mentioned in the fAQ online...
