piston slap? Or noisey valves? 700 1990

In reading the previous post, it reminded me of a concern I have about my engine....
I think I may be hearing piston slap from my engine. I am wondering if anyone can describe what it sounds like. I am not sure if I am hearing noisey valves. When I first start it up, I lift the hood and hear the clicking (could be described as slapping) But I think I also hear a quieter clicking sound (probably valves, or injectors). The two sounds go in and out of sync. Finially, after a while the louder one (the one I think may be piston slap) fades away. My oil gets dirty fast(probably because of my leadfooted driving), and the engine consumes oil(probably because of a bad turbo). The compression is a nice 160psi on all 4 cylinders. The engine has 260km on it.
