I need a reality check!
I found an 94 945T several hundred miles away from me (I’ll be traveling out there in two weeks anyway, and if I purchase, plan to drive it back). It’s a one owner, 100k car that I can get for under $6k (at a non-volvo dealership as a trade in). Basically, it’s loaded with leather and a sunroof. I asked for all the rotten details, and was told the only downsides are several door dings and worn seat ‘buns’ (bottoms). I stressed to him that I wanted NO surprises, so describe ALL the flaws. It’s definitely priced below NADA, KBB and Edmunds.
I think it’s a screaming deal, and I am planning on making the purchase over the phone this morning.
I ran a carfax report on the car last night - all checks out. The dealer said they would drive it today for me (I want his impressions of the way it runs - plus I'll ask him to call me when he's driving it, so I can ask specific questions.) He said they do not buy wholesale cars, and this was a trade in from a local resident.
I asked about if I had any outs, in case there was something drastically wrong that I had no way of knowing about until I saw the car, and he said no problem. If I didn't want the car, they would reimburse me. Plus, I figure my credit card will offer additional protection (60 day purchase rule.)
What do you guys think? I plan to call them this morning to make the deal - but I want your thoughts first.
Thanks!
