Hey guys! So I finally bit the bullet and bought a modern car. (Actually, it's a hand-me down '93 940 turbo wagon that I got from my dad. Nice car...) So, that means that I can start going to town on the 544, since I no longer have to use it as a daily driver (3 years without a major problem, lots of minor ones). I just finished ripping out what was left of the headliner and disassembling the interior. The motor and tranny are coming out this weekend, and I'm going to start taking off the 7 or 8 coats of old paint on the outside of the car. I'm also going ot have to paint the interior, it's in good shape, but definitely showing it's age. Lots of little scratches and wear points. So, what I need to know is:
A) Can I get away with just scuffing up the existing paint on the interior to prep for primer? I don't want to take it to bare metal if I don't have to.
B) Is there any boneheaded stuff that I shouldn't do? If you guys have been there before, what do I need to watch out for? I'd rather learn from your mistakes, it's cheaper. :)
I'm sure I'll have lots more questions as this project progresses, and look forward to trying to stump you with whatever conundrums I can come up with in the process. Thanks in advance for all the sage advice I know is coming.....
