'86 740 master cylinder question... looking for people who have rebuilt and looked down the bore. 700

On my '86 740, there are 4 ports on the brake master cylinder. Of the front two, one port goes directly to (one of the caliper pistons) on the right front brake caliper. The second port is feeding the pressure differential warning valve and splits to (one of the caliper pistons) on the left front brake caliper whilst the other goes to the rear caliper.

My question is this:
Inside the master cylinder bore, are the two forward most ports "connected" via the master cylinder bore, meaning the piston u-cup is further rearward then in between these ports?

I am not in need of a rebuild. I am looking for information before I tear into this thing for a modification.

Thanks for any knowlege.
