Sudden loss of power........ 700 1986

Allright, I have read through archives and FAQs, and followed advice, but I cannot seem to find the reson for my agony. My 1986 760 Turbo worked absolutely wonderfully, and after a routine drive, I noticed a distinct loss in power. The change was so sudden and so great, I got worried. When I opened up the hood, I noticed that the hose to my new fuel pressure regulator had ripped. I assumed that this was the problem, repaired it, and tried again, and the car still accelerated like a slow rock. Checking around, I noticed thgat the fuel pump is making strange sounds. The car seems to run and idle just fine, someone who did not know the car would think it just had a weak engine, but I know that it has lost about half of its power, and I can't figuere out why. Maybe when the hose to the FP regulator ripped, the fuel pressure became too much and hurt the fuel pump, causing it to make those funky noises? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I've already replace fuel pump relay, and checked for air leaks around the intake manifold, and turbo was replaced only a year ago. Thanks for any help!
