Resetting timing after the camgear is removed 200 1981

In the attempt to remove the cylinder head, my cousins took out the cam gear without observing the TDC mark. The crankgear can be set by aligning the mark with the timing belt back plate notch. And since the timing belt is removed and with the camgear turned around while trying to unbolt the camgear sprocket the relative position of the cam shaft to the crank shaft is lost. There is now no way to determine the relative position of the camgear to the crankshaft.

Can anyone show me how to align the camgear with the crankshaft so that timing can be sychronized?

Thanks.
