Lets try that again...jumping timing mark 700

Stupid enter key got in the way...anyway...I had a problem with my 85 765, the timing mark would not stay still, only by a few degrees, with a new harmonic balancer, and the timing belt tensioned properly. So I took the distributor cap off today, (ive had an oil leak I couldnt find, it was in the distributor:p)and i grabbed the rotor and it moves back and forth about 3/16 of an inch. This may or may not cause a problem because the rotor does not fire the coil. But either way, it shouldnt move. Has anyone else encountered this? If so, how did you stop the mysteriosly jumping line under the light?
