Yes this is a 4 cyl turbo with the distributor on the back of the head by the firewall. But I was thinking, when I took the rotor off, the shaft it is on didnt move, just the rotor. If this is the case, the rotor itself moving wouldnt cause this problem because its the hall effect that gives the signal, and the shaft is tight. All the rotor does is transfer spark at different times, hence the wide end for advance and retard spark so it doesnt miss the spot in the cap. I dont think that the loose rotor would cause this problem, logically speaking. Ive got to take the distributor out anyway, the internal oil seal is leaking into the distrubutor now, Ill look into it further. Ive got a feeling that the loose rotor is the problem. But if you think about it, it doesnt seem logical, but who said diagnosis always makes sense.
