I guess this is a multi part question. I have been trying to get me temp needle back to the 9 o'clock position where it was before i did this. I swapped a b21f out of my rusty 262c and into a very clean '79 245 wagon. I have changed EVERYTHING over to the new car but the gauge cluster in the dash. My first question is did volvo make more than 1 temp. sender for the b21f enginge? The temp sender that came out of the wagon reads 120 degrees on the unit. I am not sure if this is the same as the one i put in. I have also replaced the thermostat to insure that it did not get stuck when the motor was sitting without fluid in it.. it had an 88 degree celsus thermo and i did drop to a 82 degree thermostat. The second question has returned me much debate and wanted to focus it towards the volvo people of the world. how much effect does engine timeing have on engine temp? and does advancing the timing tend to make an engine run cooler or warmer? i have the motor timed at 12 degrees BTDC at the moment. It runs with good power but is hot. (unless the gauge in the cluster is giving me a bad reading) your input is always appreciated. john pappanikou
