I have a 1988 760 Turbo

My temp guage dances all over...well actually between nothing and halfway


I was wondering...what ECU handles the signal from the coolant temp sensor? Is it injection, or ignition? <---please be sure to answer that in your response

Does the guage in the dash get the sensor feed after it passes through an ECU, er what?

I'm going to replace the sender, but I have a feeling its more than that. Please don't worry about me starting with the small things, I can have another ECU at very little cost.
