Sachs shocks? 200 1987

My 'new' 1987 240 GL is a pearl, just handed down from father to son. NO rust, NO scratches, NO dents. My father has had it since new, rustproofed it every 3 years and kept it in a garage. 124,000 guaranteed km, that's 77,500 miles if I did my math right.

The only problem is that compared to modern cars, it takes the turns on its doorhandles. So I want to stiffen the chassis.

Sachs Advantage seems like a priceworthy choice of shocks, compared to the expensive Bilstein. Does anybody have any experience with Sachs?

If I later would like to install lower springs, can I keep the shocks, or do I have to also get shorter shocks?

Thanks,
Erling, Norway.
