Bad AMM or ECU ? 200 1982

Hi all,

I am trying to repair an 82 245 DL (230k). LH Jet. Poor idle and often backfires on attempts to accel. (I believe the mixture is very lean)

I have done the following: fuel pressure test, vacuum leak checks, and AMM to Intake manifold snorkel checks, voltage & resistance measurements on the ECU and AMM, O2s and F.P. reg. replaced. Spark, wires, timing, plugs OK too.

Disconnecting the AMM makes the car run and idle pretty well (but rich & hot Cat. Conv. & poor mileage)

The AMM 0 280 212 001 is producing abt. 1.35 volts key on no flow and about 2.5v during idle. Accel. pushes it up over 3 volts. (measured at AMM and ECU)

Disconnecting the snorkel from the AMM stalls the engine.

The O2s does well under .2 volts idle with AMM connected and .7 volts idle with AMM disconnected.

I am pretty sure that it is a bad AMM or ECU - but which ?

Does anyone know the correct output voltage range for the 001 AMM ?

And since 001 AMM's hard to find, can a 002 AMM be used in it's place.

Thanks for any help you can give !
