Electrical Guru's needed 700

My service light came on as usual so I popped out the cluster and reset it.
Well as I was sliding the cluster back in I banged it on something. Well I busted something but I don't know where to begin. I called my buddy up at the dealer and said check the board where the a 3 prong plug is for cracks right below speedo but it was alright. They can't get it in before Tuesday. The clock and Temperature gauge work fine. The tach and speedo read about 40% of actual. The gas gauge reads about 4 gallons and it has a full tank. The amp meter shows dead and the warning light stays on. I knew I should have bought a set of green books. My question is which wires should I be checking for power. Also I checked the fuses and they are all ok. I don't want to be typical guy and start tearing the thing apart only to find out I can't get it back together right.LOL
I know it is a tough one just looking for some guidance. Thanks
