There were a few posts regarding sudden coolant loss
resulting in a toasted engine.
My question is : how can I avoid that on the freeway?
My idea is: In case I notice a rapid overheating,
I would switch the tranny (ZF-auto) in neutral and shut off the engine,
so that the car can roll a quarter mile more until a save stop.
What else should I do on the far left lane on the freeway at 70mph?
Is that a safe way or would I kill the tranny ?
Or am I totally wrong?
TIA
PS I know how to carefully switch off the
ignition without locking the steering.
I had to do it on another car some years ago,
where the throttle was stuck fully open.
