how to avoid toasted engine?? 700

There isn't much else that you can do.

Do remember though that your safety -and that of others- is much more important than that potentially toasted engine. It's fine to cut the engine if you're in very light traffic, but if you're in dense traffic don't get yourself in the proverbial tight spot by being too busy and/or losing the remaining power/power brakes and power steering.
