I get a single "clunk" from the left front end of my 745 (163k miles)when I turn to the right, but not the left. This happens at low (driveway) speed and also when cornering up to, say, 40 mph, (maybe more, but I can't hear it then). Half to one turn of the wheel, followed by forward motion will do it--it's nowhere near hard over. Then, backing up will produce a similar clunk. Sometimes it's also there when straightening out after turning. It's 90% repeatable.
I've read the FAQ, and replaced the left upper strut bearing, both lower ball joints, the conical radius rod/control arm bushings on both sides (needed it!), sway bar frame-mount rubber pieces and both lower ball joints. The outer tie rod ends are new-ish (well before clunk, say 2 years old). The inner arm and rod bushings show no splits and no play when pried. I see no slop on the inner tie rod ends. There may be a slight radial play between the rod and the steering box, but that doesn't seem like it would cause this.
Any ideas?? I'm getting frustrated, and the clunk's clunking more!
Thanks!
