Stalling-Hesitation 200 1986

What could be wrong with my 1986 244 if:

After starting it cuts off when I press the brake pedal to go into D or R and emits a greyish cloud of exhaust?

and

If the car is about 1/4 full it will slightly hesitate before accelerating. If it's less than 1/4 full it sputters yet it continues its motion.

What should I look into or replace?
