We just bought a well-kept 1989 245 DL. When first driving the car before purchase, we didn't notice this, but have since we picked the car up (of course!). When we are braking from highway speeds, we hear a deep roaring noise as the speedometer passes down through about the 35-45 mph range. The mechanic that examined the car before we bought it told us the brakes had a good 50% left on them, and it's not that nasty metallic noise when you need new brakes. It's a deep roaring sound, and then there's a thunking sound when you come to a complete stop (those two may be completely unrelated, however??). Any light you could shed would be appreciated.
